Hip Hop Abs All Day Long...

I think I may need to start doing it again. I had no clue doulas had to be in shape??? I was at a birth the other day and spent most of the time squatting or on my knees (mommy has happiest on the ball). The pain I felt in my legs that night was insane. So this is the sign I've been looking for to dust off the DVD's and get with the program... I hope the babies will let me have 45 minutes to bounce around the living room LOL

A Breech Story...

I had the amazing luck of seeing a breech vaginal birth. It was actually the first birth I ever doula'd for. I hadn't even met the couple. A midwife from a local birth center called me and asked if there was anyway I could come to the hospital, that it would be a once in a lifetime opportunity. I had to jump on it, and I can't tell you how awesome it was (but I'll try LOL). I got to the hospital, and mom was laboring nicely. She was having baby #6, her waters released 3 weeks early, and the midwife discovered baby was in a breech presentation, so they transferred to a local hospital where there was one OB who would do a breech vaginal. She wasn't even open when she got there, but after some Cytotec @@, and some pit things were moving right along. After being with her for a few hours they examined her cause she was beginning to feel pressure. She was at 6 cm, and 10 minutes later complete. We all went into the OR incase a section had to be performed, but after one push baby's butt came right out. Doc asked dad to announce baby's sex. "It's a BOY!!!" All you could see was his little butt and penis LOL Two more pushes and baby was out. What an unbelivable first doula experience?!?! Our bodies are so amazing. And she went completely natural. YAY!!!!

No longer a virgin...

Ok, so here I go. This is my first post/blog ever. I have no clue what I will write about, but I'm sure with time it will be more interesting. I mean how can it not be?? I have four children, a very large shedding dog, and an insane husband (okay so maybe sometimes he's sane). Something's got to be funny in there somewhere right?!?!? I'm a SAHM for the most part, but I have always had a passion for pregnancy (obviously I have 4 kids), childbirth, and motherhood. I recently followed my heart and took the DONA labor doula training. I'm working on my certification and loving every minute of it. I'm also working on my HBCE (HypnoBirthing Practitioner) certification. That's about it for now. More to come soon....
